Our job was to give Folkets Hus a new graphic identity. It was important not to forget the heritage of the labour movement and trade unions, but still find an expression that was more pleasurable and more consistent with their mission – namely to rent out rooms for conferences and events. Starting with the existing spatial forms of the house, we formed an identity programme that feels both commercial and joyful as well as suggesting flexible premises.
Folkets Hus has provided a meeting place for Gothenburg's citizens since the late 19th century. Today it offers conference facilities as well as being a workplace for over a hundred people. The jewel in the crown is the Draken cinema, where the Gothenburg film festival opens at the end of January every year.
